Ban on sale, purchase of crackers in Jammu

Jammu, Oct 10 (UNI) The local administration has ordered a ban on the sale, purchase and storage of crackers and related explosive material in places other than specified by Jammu Municipal Corporation, sources said here today.

As per the order by Jammu District Magistrate Hirdesh Kumar Singh, the stalls for sale of crackers should be put by concerned dealers only at the places mentioned in the licence after getting clearance from the Deputy Director Fire Services, the police and municipality or NAC and revenue authorities.

''No person under 18 years of age or in the state of intoxication or of unsound mind shall be employed on loading/unloading or transportation of sellers explosives or be allowed to enter in licenced premises'' according to the order.

Further, ''no person or body of persons shall stock the crackers for whole sale purpose before October 10 without valid licence.

''No retail sale of crackers or other fireworks shall be undertaken by any authorised person before October 18 or after the Diwali festival.

In case any wholesaler or retailer contravenes any of the conditions specified, the administration will cancel the permission granted in his/her favour and seize the shocks, it adds.
