Airtel crosses 2.5 mln subscriber mark in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) Telecom major Airtel, today announced it has crossed the 2.5-million customer mark in Delhi, owing to its world-class infrastructure and service deliveries.

''The milestone speaks volumes of the faith and trust that the customers have reposed in our services. This phenomenal growth has further renewed our resolve to make mobile telephony more exciting, enjoyable, affordable and happening,'' Bharti Airtel Ltd (Mobility) (Delhi circle) CEO Christopher Tobit said.

The company said it has become the first operator in a metro city to achieve this milestone.

Currently, Airtel has over 1,900 cell sites and over 300 customised in-building solutions to provide a seamless network experience for its customers in Delhi.

Bharti Airtel had an aggregate of 28.69 million customers at the end of September 2006, of which 27.06 million mobile customers were mobile users.

It provides mobile and fixed wireless services using GSM technology across 23 telecom circles.
