AIADMK civic poll candidate sentenced to 10-yrs imprisonment

Vellore, Tamil Nadu, Oct 10 (UNI) A court here today sentenced an AIADMK candidate for the local body elections to ten years imprisonment in connection with a 1992 assault case.

G G Ravi of the AIADMK was found guilty in a sandalwood smuggling case in 1992.

Fearing action, he approached the court with an anticipatory bail plea which was opposed by the police.

An incensed Ravi then attacked and wounded Inspector (North) Ganesan.

When this assault case came up before the Vellore Additional Sessions Court, Judge Murali Sundaram awarded the sentence to Ravi.
