4 NSCN (K) cadres killed in inter-factional clash

Kohima, Oct 10 (UNI) Four NSCN(K) cadres were killed and eleven others, including one NSCN (I-M) cadre, injured in a clash in Zunheboto district of Nagaland.

Official sources said about sixty cadres of NSCN (K) yesterday attacked the one hundred-odd camp of NSCN (I-M) from three sides, at a hill top near Shoixe village and a fierce gun battle took place for over five hours.

Reports added the villagers of Shoixe fled their homes fearing attack and took refuge in a Church. Later they came out with their spears and machetes and through PA system asked the underground cadres of both the faction to immediately vacate the area for the safety of the public.

The NSCN (I-M) has claimed they have seized three AK47 rifles and a box containing 800 rounds of ammunition from the rival cadres.

Four of the injured cadres were reportedly brought to Naga Hospital here late last night and the security in and around the hospital has been beefed up.

Meanwhile, heavy exchange of fire was also reported at M/Tsugho village, some 40 kms away from Zunheboto town. Details are awaited.
