Murtaza, a resident of Jwalapur, Hardwar, was admitted to the Jolly Grant Hospital in Dehradun yesterday for treatment allegedly inflicted on him by the police.

Murtaza was brought to the police station Jwalapur a few days ago for interrogation regarding a case against his brother. The relatives of the deceased alleged that he succumbed to the injuries inflicted on him by the police.

Mr Joshi said the SHO of Jwalapur Kotwali had been suspended and added a departmental inquiry would be conducted into the causes of Murtaza's death.
