Woman, 3 children murdered in Punjab

Hoshiarpur, Oct 9 (UNI) A young woman and her three children were brutally murdered and their bodies were thrown in the Mukerian Hydel canal, police today said.

According to police sources here four dead bodies including that of a woman, two girls and a boy were recovered from the hydel channel near Neemi Pandori village yesterday evening.

These bodies were identified as those of Jaswinder Kaur, wife of Veer Singh of Bhagra village and her three children Amarjit Kaur (10), Antar Kaur (2) and Simarjit Singh (7).

During investigation it was found that after murdering them, their dead bodies had been hurled in the canal. There was a matrimonial dispute between Jaswinder Kaur and her husband Veer Singh, who was serving in the army, police said.

Due to strained relations with her husband, Jaswinder Kaur was residing with her parents alongwith her children and had filed a divorce case in the Dasuya court. The court had fixed a monthly expenditure of Rs 2200 for the wife and her children.

According to police investigations during his recent visit to the village, Veer Singh went to Jaswinder Kaur and got a compromise letter signed from her.

Police has registered a case under sections 302, 210 and 120B of the IPC against Veer Singh, his brothers Daljot Singh and Balbir Singh, mother Mohinder Kaur, and a few other member of the army jawans family. The police has rounded up some of those named in the FIR and are questioning them. The prime accused Veer Singh however was yet to be taken into custody.
