Teenager dies of dengue in Bharatpur

Bharatpur, Oct 9 (UNI) A 18-year-old teenager died of dengue in Bharatpur district's Mewat area.

The youth, Dipak Yadav was first taken to the community health centre in Kama from his village Pathwari. But as no provisions for dengue testing was available there, they took him to a private hospital in Faridabad in Haryana where he died yesterday, despite being given more than 20 units of blood.

With this, the state's total dengue toll has reached 10. The state government has confirmed seven dengue deaths. Two children died last week while Dipak's death yesterday takes the toll to 10. Another 14-year-old Rizwan of Pathwari village is also afflicted with dengue, while another patient, Ajay, of the same village is undergoing treatment at Escorts Hospital in Faridabad.

Bharatpur's Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr N K Srivastav admitted Kama has no dengue-testing facility and confirmed Dipak succumbed to dengue.

Dr Srivastav said a person in Khadeli town in Alwar district has also tested positive for dengue, while another victim, Pramod of Khadeli, has been taken to Jaipur's Sawai Man Singh Hospital for treatment.

Reports from Jaipur say there is no decline in the number of patients arriving in the hospital for dengue testing.

More than 500 people visited the SMS Hospital yesterday while J K Lon recorded more than 300 patients, out of which 71 patients were admitted at J K Lon.

Meanwhile, data released by the Union Health Ministry yesterday reports 326 dengue cases in Rajasthan.
