South Korea's Ban nominated as next UN leader
UNITED NATIONS, Oct 9 (Reuters) South Korea's Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon was formally nominated by the UN Security Council today as the world body's next United Nations secretary-general, Japan announced.
The 192-member UN General Assembly is expected to endorse Ban later this month as the eighth secretary-general of the United Nations since 1946 to replace Kofi Annan of Ghana, who ends 10 years in office on December 31.
