Shastri asks MCD Deputy Commissioner to monitor anti-dengue drive
New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri today instructed the MCD Deputy Commissioner to monitor the dengue control programmes in the capital to control the outbreak.
''I appeal to all citizens to participate in the anti-dengue programmes and extend their support and co-operation to Government to control the outbreak,'' Mr Shastri said after chairing a dengue review meeting.
As the total number of dengue cases rose to 957 in Delhi, the Health said all precautionary measures, including fogging, are being taken to control the spread of the viral disease, caused by aedes mosquitoes.
All the financial support would be extended to the MCD to purchase equipment and fogging machines under the anti-dengue programme, he added.
He directed to shut down all the artificial water bodies in the city immediately as they could breed mosquitos.
The Health Minister also appealed RWAs to create awareness about the disease.
