Rs 8.80 lakh worth liquor seized in Godhra village

Godhra, Oct 9 (UNI) Police today seized 525 boxes containing IMFL liquor bottles from a deserted field behind a primary school at Angadia village 20 km from here.

The seizure is valued at Rs 8.80 lakh at current market price.

A police team lead by DSP JK Bhatt rushed to the spot on a tip-off. Mahendrabhai Gulabhai Patel was arrested from the spot and a Suzuki motorcycle was also seized from him.

The police said Mahendrabhai was working for the two notorious bootleggers of Godhra -- Asvin Dheerabhai Patel and Babu Dheerabhai Patel, both brothers, who are now absconding. Further enquires are on.
