Railway revenue up 15.26 per cent
New Delhi, Oct 9: Sustaining its growth momentum, the Railways earned Rs. 29360.31 crore during April-September this year as compared to Rs 25472.45 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 15.26 per cent.
The goods earnings went up from Rs 16988.93 crore during April-September, 2005 to Rs 19701.71 crore the same period this year, an increase of 15.97 per cent.
In the passenger segment, the revenue earnings during the period were Rs 8456.28 crore as compared to Rs 7609.84 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 11.12 per cent.
The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 797.10 crore as compared to Rs 568.27 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 40.27 per cent. The total sundry earnings went up from Rs 305.41 crore to Rs 405.22 crore, an increase of 32.68 per cent.
The total approximate number of passengers booked during the period were 3140.57 million as compared to 2911.07 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 7.88 per cent.
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during April-September this year were 1721.43 million and 1419.14 million compared to 1620.08 million and 1290.99 million during the same period last year, an increase of 6.26 per cent and 9.93 per cent respectively.
