Madurai City Police Commissioner transferred

Chennai, Oct 9 (UNI) The Election Commission of India today ordered the transfer of Madurai City Police Commissioner Chidambarasamy, following the controversy over maintaining law and order in Madurai, where the by-poll for Madurai Central Assembly constituency is scheduled on October 11, official sources said.

Earlier, the opposition AIADMK had complained about Mr Chidambarasamy's reluctance to take action on the clash between the AIADMK and DMK cadres on Saturday night, in which former AIADMK ministers Madhusudhanan and Shanmugam were attacked.
