New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Senior BJP leader L K Advani today said Kanshi Ram heralded the removal of an era of 'untouchability' from the Indian politics besides working for the uplift of Dalits and poorer sections of the society.

Talking to newspersons here after paying his last respects to Kanshi Ram, who died in the wee hours today, the BJP leader said the fact that he had joined hands with various political parties after consolidating BSP's own political constituency, marked the beginning of coalition politics.

He said the BSP founder leader Mr Kanshi Ram had emerged as a tall leader among Dalit leaders after Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar and left an indelible mark on national politics.

Mr Advani was accompanied by BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley and BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi at the official residence of BSP supremo and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, where the late leader's body was laid to enable people to pay homage.
