Japan says detected waves that were not from quake
TOKYO, Oct 9 (Reuters) Japan detected seismic waves that were not from an earthquake today, but has not determined whether they were related to a North Korean nuclear test, Foreign Minister Taro Aso said.
''If it were a very small nuclear test, for example if it were a fraction of the (bomb) dropped on Hiroshima, then there would be little radiation emitted so a confirmation would be difficult,'' he told a news conference.
''We do not know when we can make a confirmation.'' ''An accurate check will a bit more time.'' North Korea's official KCNA news agency said earlier the country had successfully carried out an underground nuclear test.
