Heritage train for Tadoba to commence from November

Nagpur, Oct 9 (UNI) The proposed heritage train from Nagpur to Tadoba will run from November, Maharashtra Minister for Tourism and Rural Development Vijaysingh Mohite-Patil said.

The narrow-gauge train, to be operated jointly by Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and the railways, would run from Nagpur to Nagbhir, from where passengers will travel by bus to the forest reserve, Patil told newsmen here.

The train was being introduced to boost tourism in Vidarbha, he said. The rake earlier earmarked for a similar train between Nagpur and Kanha would be used for the Tadoba train, and was being refurbished, he said.

Patil, who was here to attend a two-day meeting of office bearers and officials of the Zila Parishads (ZPs) in Maharashtra, said the government planned to prevent defections among members of local self-government bodies through an amendment in the Local Authorities Members Disqualification Act of 1986. His department had proposed that an ordinance be issued for the same, Patil said. The proposal was pending with the Chief Minister, who would send it to the Governor shortly, he also said.
