Mumbai, Oct 9 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today directed the police to produce former journalist Ketan Tirodkar in court on November 21 in regards to his plea to quash the case against him.

Tirodkar is accused for aiding and abetting an organised crime syndicate.

The had filed a private complaint against encounter specialist Daya Nayak and others on November 14, 2003, alleging their involvement with the underworld, before the MCOCA Court. He also outlined his own role with the syndicate which was established and a case was registered against him on June seven, 2004.

Tirodkar, who is currently lodged in Arthur Road Jail, filed this petition in view of an Apex Court judgement that disallows invoking of section 210 of Criminal Procedure Code. The said section states that before commencing proceeding before a magistrate a certain procedure has to be followed by the police for investigation in a matter based on a complaint and not a police report.

According to the petitioner, this judgement is being violated in his case as he is booked under the said section of the code.
