Enhance confidence of farmers, CM tells Agri University
Parbhani, Maharashtra, Oct 9 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said that it was the responsibility of the agriculture universities as well as agriculture department in the State to enhance confidence of the farmers in order to prevent them from committing suicide.
While inagurating the weeklong agriculture meet here Mr Deshmukh advocated the need for a specific research on the irregularity in the rainfall by the agriculture university.
The Chief Minister pointed out that unless there was some profitability in the farming, the new generation of youths would not taken up the traditional profession in the State and asked the concerned to look into this aspect while carrying out research.
Mr Deshmukh congratulated state agriculture minister Balasaheb Thorat for organising the agriculture meet in order to bring the agriculture department to the doorstep of the farmers.
Mr Thorat, Agriculture Commissioner Krishan Lavekar and Principal Secretary (Agri) Nanasaheb Patil also spoke on the occasion.
