DGCA awards DIAL with aerodrome license for operating IGI airport

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has awarded Delhi International Airport Private Ltd (DIAL) the aerodrome license for Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport here.

The license authorises DIAL to operate the IGI Airport under provisions of the Aircraft Act 1934 and Aircraft Rules 1937.

DIAL is aiming to modernise Delhi airport to help cater to the growing passenger and cargo traffic. The master plan for the same has been recently submitted to the ministry of civil aviation and the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

The plan envisions construction of a new integrated passenger terminal to cater to the both domestic and international traffic.

This terminal will be ready before the Commonwealth Games in 2010.

DIAL is a joint venture company consisting of the GMR Group, the AAI, Fraport, Eraman Malaysia and India Development Fund. It has been given the mandate to operate, maintain, develop, design, construct, finance, upgrade and modernise the Delhi airport.
