BSF seize smuggled gold bar, arrests one Bangladeshi infiltrator
Kolkata, Oct 9 (UNI) Acting on a tip-off Border Security Force (BSF) personnel rounded up one Bangladeshi infiltrator near the Indo-Bangla border at Bongaon in North 24 Parganas district last night and recovered three gold bars, valued at more than Rs 24 lakhs, from him.
BSF sources here today said the Bangladeshi national, identified as one Syed Nurul Islam, was intercepted at Bongaon Railway station near the international border while he was trying to board a Kolkata bound train at around 23-30 hours.
On interrogation he revealed the names of his Indian contacts, considered to be members of an international gold smuggling racket, the sources said adding that efforts were on to nab them too.
Later the Bangladeshi infiltrator was handed over to the local police.
