Two of inter-state diamond cheats gang arrested

Ahmedabad, Oct 8 (UNI) The Crime Branch today claimed to have busted a gang of cheats that had been duping diamond merchants of lakhs of rupees by giving them fake diamonds in lieu of real ones.

The gang was active in Mumbai, Jaipur, Panna in Madhya Pradesh as well, police said.

The owner of Bridge Gems and Jewellery shop of the city, had lodged a complaint that he had been duped of Rs 5.28 lakhs by the gang.

On a tip-off, that two of the gangsters were near a bus-stop in Bapunagar locality, the police laid a trap and nabbed them. The two have been identified as as Karsanbhai alias KD, resident of a Jamnagar village, and Kishore from Amreli district.

The two have confessed their crime and said that the gang had been cheating jewellers in Mumbai, Jaipur and Panna as well, police claimed.

Police is trying to nab other gang members.
