Timely action of petrol pump employees averts major disaster

Puducherry, Oct 8 (UNI) The timely action of the employees of the petrol pump on the beach road here averted a major disaster today.

According to fire service sources some labourers were working near the pump and while petrol was being supplied to two wheelers.

When the labourers hammered an iron pipe sparks from the pipe fell over the petrol which caught fire.

The employees in the pump used the fire extinguisher and put out the fire. The fire tenders were also summoned from the nearby station who also doused the entire area with water.

Two persons who sustained minor burns in the fire were treated as out-patients at the Government General Hospital.
