Tezpur Air Force base kicks off platinum jubilee celebrations
Guwahati, Oct 8 (UNI) Along with other bases in the country, the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Indian Air Force was kicked off at the Air Force Station at Tezpur in Asom today.
Among the major air bases in the country, the Tezpur base trains young fighter pilots of the Air Force, along with its other regular functions. It is currently commanded by Air Commodore A.G.Patil.
The morning celebrations, included flying display by helicopters and fighters, a press release of the PIB (Defence Wing) informed here.
A mock strike attack was also performed during the display.
Helicopters displayed its ubiquitous ness and showed its important role carried out in the north East, that of casualty evacuation.
An entertainment programme was organised in the evening at the Tezpur base, the release said.
