Union Health Secretary P K Hota said the situation was grim but under control.
All major hospitals in the affected states were equipped with staff and equipment to handle the rush of patients. There were enough beds, medical supplies, blood and platelet, said Mr Hota here.

He advised the people to take medicines under medical prescription and prevent mosquito bites in their homes and other premises.
They should take voluntary steps to remove water from water coolers and other spots near their house and office buildings, said Mr Hota.
