Shubham meets Nitin in national TT championship final

Vijayawada, Oct 8 (UNI) Shubham Sarma of Andhra Pradesh and V Nitin of PSPBA today moved into the junior boys finals in the national ranking Table Tennis Championship played here today.

In the semi final, Shubham crushed Soumyajit Ghosh of Bengal 4-11, 6-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-9, 13-11 while Nitin demolished Mohit Verma of PSPBA in straight sets 12-10, 11-8, 11-9, 11-5.

In another semifinal match in junior girls event, Divya Deshpande outwitted Shreya Ghosh of West Bengal 12-10, 8-11, 11-6, 5-11, 6-11, 11-3, 11-7 and Prajakta Tipale of RSPB stunned Pooja Sahasrabuddhe of Maharashtra 5-11, 7-11, 10-12, 13-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-7.

It was a disappointing day for top seed G Jitendra of RSPB as he could not make into finals after losing to Pathik Mehta of Gujarat 11-8, 11-7, 9-11, 11-13, 11-13, 15-13 in the mens semi final match.

Sanil Shetty of Maharashtra defeated Anirban Nandi of RSPB 11-9, 11-7, 8-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-9 in another semi final match and advanced into finals.

In the women singles semis, Poulomi Ghatak and Mouma Das of PSPB entered the finals by beating their opponents Neha Aggarwal of Delhi 12-14, 11-5, 11-8,12-10,11-6 and Sushmita Roy of PSPB 11-6, 14-12, 9-11, 12-10, 11-8.
