Shortage of essential commodities in trouble torn Mangalore District

Mangalore, Oct 8 (UNI) There was shortage of essential commodities when people rushed to buy day-to-day needs during the two-hour relaxation in the 48-hour Curfew imposed on October Six following violence in which two people were killed and more than 100 injured in the City, Ullal and Kudroli police Station limits.

Large crowds were seen in front of the provision stores and near milk booths. Most affected were the labour class.

However, no untoward incident was reported during the period.

Authorities reimposed curfew as precautionary measure and stepped up patrolling.

A Flag march was held in the affected areas to instill confidence among the public.

A communal clash had erupted on Wednesday night at Kudroli in the city on the issue of illegal transportation of cows to slaughter house which had hit a vehicle in which one woman was injured.
