Rider dies after crash in Spanish championship

MADRID, Oct 8 (Reuters) Spanish rider Ruben Torres died as a result of injuries sustained in a crash during the Spanish motorcycle championships at the Circuit de Catalunya today.

Sports daily Marca reported on its Website that the 18-year-old rider suffered serious injuries to his head and thorax when he was hit by two other bikes after he had crashed during the race.

They said he had been treated at the circuit clinic but died shortly after being transferred to the Catalunya General hospital in a helicopter.
