Janmorcha demands waiver of farmers
Lucknow, Oct 8: Demanding waiver of all types of loans of the small farmers and weavers in Uttar Pradesh, Pragatishil Janmorcha led by former Prime Minister V P Singh today announced to hold 50- hour long dharna here from tomorrow to highlight the problems of the farmers, weavers and common people.
Pragatishil Janmorcha's convenor and suspended Samajwadi Party MP Raj Babbar said here today that the dharna would be held in front of the Vidhan Sabha and leaders from other parties including CPI(ML) would participate in the programme.
Demanding immediate waiver of all loans of the small farmers and weavers in the state, Mr Babbar said only such measure by the state government could prevent suicides of the farmers.
''Now it is the test of the Mulayam Singh Yadav government to waive the loans to prove its commitment for the farmers and weavers,'' he said, adding that Janmorcha had already launched a 'Jan Abhiyan' to highlight the issue.
Taking strong note on the communal flare up in the adjoining Barabanki district during Dussera, he said it was a pre-hatched conspiracy by the ruling Samajwadi party and the BJP to target the minority community.
''By instigating communal violence the SP government is blackmailing the minorities to support them in the coming assembly polls'', he alleged.
The MP from Agra, however, appreciated the approach of the centre particularly the Congress for reviewing the Special Economic Zone (SEZs)issue after Janmorcha opposed acquiring of the agriculture land for the purpose.
''We would demand acquisition of only barren lands for SEZs and other purposes, to be handed over to the private entrepeneurs so that the farmers are not harrassed'', he said.
