Haryana Govt to spend Rs 277 crore on infrastructure
Chandigarh, Oct 8 UNI) The Haryana Government has earmarked a sum of Rs 277 crore during the current financial year with a view to improve the basic amenities and infrastructure in the urban areas, Minister of State for Urban Development Savitri Jindal today stated.
Mrs Jindal said during last year, a sum of Rs 209 crore was released to the municipalities against the previous years release of Rs 70 crore. Keeping in view the ever-increasing requirements of the urban areas this amount had further been increased, she added.
She said Faridabad had been chosen as one of the 63 cities in the country to be covered under Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and a sum of Rs 55 crore had been earmarked for the effective implementation of the scheme. Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT) had also been envisaged for those towns which had not been covered by the JNNURM, she added.
The Minister said City Development Plans for 10 towns had been prepared and similar plans for 22 other towns were also being prepared through professional agencies. She said adequate care was being taken of those who did not have proper shelter and live in dilapidated conditions in the towns.
