ICC Trophy: Police to take action against black marketeers
Mohali, Oct 8 (UNI) With a view to ensure that no illegal activities takes place during the ICC Champions Trophy matches the Punjab Police has warned of taken stringent action against those found indulging in such wrongful activities particularly black marketing of tickets for the matches.
The Punjab police made this announcement after reports that spectators purchased tickets in black for the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh match held yesterday at the PCA stidum here.
''For the upcoming matches on October 25, 27 and 29 and November one, we will keep a strict vigil'', SSP Naunihal Singh said here today.
He disclosed the police has booked eight persons and suspended two police personnel for indulging in various violations during yesterdays match. While two persons were booked for black marketing tickets, the other six persons were booked for trespassing into the stadium.
Head Constable Kuldip Singh and constable Jaspinderjit Singh have been suspended following allegations that they sold the complimentary tickets given to them for their personal use, he said.
Kuldip Singh was also found drunk on duty at the PCA stadium, he added.
Departmental proceedings have been initiated against the two cops and they have been sent to the police lines.
The SSP warned that any policeman found acting in a negligent manner or failing in his duty will not be spared.
