HC refuses to grant stay on ''Betiyan Ghar Ki Laxmi''

Mumbai, Oct 8 (UNI) The Bombay High Court has refused to grant a stay on the serial ''Betiyan Ghar Ki Laxmi'', aired on Zee Television at prime time, in a suit filed by writer Rekha Modi for copyright infringement.

Justice S J Vazifdar refused any interim relief or stay yesterday. Modi, while seeking a stay, had contended that the serial was conceived by her originally for Zee but due to ''creative differences'', she had sold the same script to Star.

Star is launching a new serial ''Betiyan - Apni Yaa Paraya Dhan'' based on the same script.

The court held that Modi was no more in possession of copyright for the serial. Star, which owns it, has not complained about an infringement of the copyright.
