BSP has deviated from his original policies: Paswan
Ludhiana, Oct 8 (UNI) Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers and Lok Janshakti party president Ram Vilas Paswan today claimed that the Bhaujan Samaj Party (BSP) under Ms Mayawati had ''deviated from its original policies and programmes''.
''It is no longer a party of the poor, but of the rich'', he said while talking to mediapersons here.
The basic policies of the BSP was for the uplift of the poor sections of society, but unfortunately it was no longer pursuing these policies, he said. ''Money is playing a role in the BSP as the rich and influential are being given tickets to fight elections,'' he alleged.
''The founder of the BSP, Babu Kanshi Ram has virtually been held a prisoner by the present party leadership,'' he claimed.
Turning to the Punjab assembly polls to be held in February next year, Mr Paswan said that his party would put up candidates in all the 117 assembly segments. The Lok Janshakti tried for electoral alliances with the CPI, CPM, Lok Bhalai Party of Balwant singh Ramoowalia and the Akali factions led by Simranjit Singh and Ravi Inder Singh, but unfortunately this did not materialise, he added.
Mr Paswan informed that from November one his party would launch a 'rath yatra' in Punjab to mobilise the masses for the assembly polls.
