BJP is trying to Safronise the Bababudanagiri shrine
Bangalore, Oct 8 (UNI) Former Karnataka Minister and Senior Janata Dal (Secular) leader S K Kantha today alleged that the coalition partner Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was trying to saffronise the Bababudanagiri shrine, which was considered as the center of communal harmony and people from both Muslim and Hindu communities offered prayers.
Speaking to UNI here, he said that all these years the Bababudanagiri shrine was seen as sacred place for the people of all communities, but now BJP is trying to communalise it by raking up unnecessary controversies.
Mr Kantha said that saint Bababudan who had introduced the Coffee to the people of this country centuries ago was also enjoying respect from both the communities.
Reacting sharply against the state government's decision to leave the issue of allowing Datha Jayanthi and other related rituals in Bababudanagiri shrine to the district administration, Mr Kantha said that the bigger issue having wider ramification should be dealt by the state cabinet itself. The state government should send strong signal that it will protect the secular fabric of the society at all costs by banning all kind of illegal activities intended to be performed at the shrine by BJP and its sangh pariwar.
