Bangalore Univ boys bag inter-universities swimming title

Chandigarh, Oct 8 (UNI) Bangalore and Kerala universities ruled the pool and claimed the men and women team trophies, respectively, in the All India Inter-University Aquatic Championships at the Panjab University here today.

Bangalore logged 87 points to lift the men's team championship.

Hosts Panjab University and Delhi University finished runners-up and third with 37 and 20 points, respectively.

Kerala women swimmers emerged champions by securing 53 points.

The runners-up position went to Calicut University with 38 points.

Bangalore University had to satisfy themselves with 23 points.

Calicut University defeated Pune University by 11-9 in a thrilling water polo final for men.

Calcutta University were awarded 10 points in the men's diving competitions which fetched them the team title.

Delhi and Mumbai obtained second and third positions with 7 and 6 points, respectively.

In the women's diving comptitions, Devi Ahilya University of Indore secured the top position with 16 points.
