Army officer, jawan, 3 militants killed

Srinagar, Oct 8: An Army officer, a soldier and three militants were killed in a fierce gun-battle in the Gurez sector of north Kashmir late last night, official sources said today.

They said troops guarding the Line of Control (LoC) in the Gurez sector noticed a group of infiltrators sneaking into this side from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) late last night under the cover of darkness.

When challenged, the infiltrators opened fire on troops which was returned and in the fierce encounter, three militants were killed.

An Army officer and a soldier also lost their lives in the gunfight that raged for several hours, the sources said.

Three AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were seized from the slain militants.
