Ajit supports Mulayam's tirade against UP governor
Lucknow, Oct 8 (UNI) Supporting chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's tirade against Uttar Pradesh governor T Rajeshwar for not administering oath to two new ministers, Rashtriya Lok Dal(RLD) supremo Ajit Singh today said the governor is constitutionally bound to give oath to two ministers recommended by the CM.
''Mr T V Rajeswar will be the first governor of the country to defy the recommendation of any CM to appoint two ministers of RLD'', he maintained.
Talking to reporters here, he added the reason which the governor was giving for not accepting the CM's recommendation that both the ministers could not get elected to assembly or Vidhan Parishad within six months was only an excuse.
''If such was the matter, then how he administered oath to Mr Mirajuddin, who was not a member of either house six months back'', he questioned.
''There is no constitutional binding for any minister to be a member of the house before taking the oath'', Mr Singh stated.
Yesterday, Mr Yadav had also criticised the Rajbhawan for not accepting his recommendation to give oath to two RLD ministers.
The CM had even termed the governor as an ''agent'' of the Centre and charged him with taking on ''anti-constitutional'' approach on the issue.
When Mr Singh was asked whether his party would recommend two MLAs or MLCs for the ministerial post, he said the party was yet to decide on it.
The RLD leader also refused to comment on Mr Yadav's statement that the governor was acting as an agent of the Congress in the state.
Talking about the RLDs pre-poll alliance in the coming assembly polls in the state, Mr Singh said no agreeement has been reached with any party so far.
''We would go for issue based alliance with like minded parties'', he said.
