18 new suspected dengue cases reported in city hospitals
Chandigarh, Oct 8 (UNI) A total of 18 new suspected cases of dengue fever have been reported in three different hospitals of the city today.
Out of 18 patients, three have tested positive, an official press release said.
One confirmed case was reported from the city, while two other cases were reported from Haryana.
Eleven patients of suspected fever were admitted in the PGIMER while five in Government Hospital and two in the Government Medical College and Hospital.
In order to prevent the spread of dengue cases in the city, the Health Department is continuing its intensive field operations.
The Assistant Director of Malaria department along with his team visited the areas where suspected cases were reported and house to house checking and spraying are carried out. The stagnated water were treated with larvicides.
Mass survey of the areas were conducted and 69 blood slides were collected for malaria parasite while massive insecticide sprayed in the areas. The fogging operations ar also being continued.
The first suspected dengue case was noticed in Ambala when a young boy of Kotwali Sarai, Ambala City was brought to the civil hospital yesterday, who was later referred to GMCH here.
In Karnal, as many as seven dengue patients were undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the district. Though all of them suffered from the symptoms of dengue, the district authorities were harping on the confirmation from NICD, Delhi.
Four confirmed cases of dengue fever reported from Hoshiarpur city in Punjab have been referred to Dayanand Medical College, Ludhiana last night. Hoshiarpur Civil Surgeon Kamaljeet Kaur today said a total eight suspected dengue cases were reported from the city.
The four other suspected dengue cases were still under observation in the local Civil Hospital, she added.
