Lahore, Oct 7 (UNI) In another shocking turn of events, Younis Khan was today re-instated as the captain of Pakistan team a day after Dr Naseem Ashraf took over as PCB Chairman from Shahryar Khan.

Addressing reporters at the Gaddafi Stadium in here, Dr Ashraf said Mohammad Yousuf, who was appointed the captain yesterday, would depute Younis in the ICC event.

''Younis Khan has been reinstated as captain and Mohammad Yousuf will be his vice-captain,'' Dr Ashraf told reporters here today.

According to media reports here, rumours of Younis being re-instated had been doing the rounds since last night after Mr Khan tendered his resignation from the Pakistan Cricket Board.

In addition to this, the newly appointed assistant coach Mushtaq Ahmed has also been sacked and Dr Ashraf said more changes will follow in the next 45 days after PCB Patron and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf called for greater transparency in the functioning of the board.

''All irrelevant staff will be purged within 45 days.

Transparency is needed and the game will be run by good administrators,'' the new PCB chief said.
