Tiwari wins U-25 national championship in Aurangabad
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Oct 7 (UNI) Local led Arjun Tiwari won the boys under-25 title in the National level tournament organised by the Marathwada Chess Association on behalf of the All India Chess Federation and Maharashtra Chess Association here today.
Tiwari defeated Rishipal Singh of Andhra Pradesh to win the championship, which was sponsored by the city based Gaikwad Classes.
He was awarded a cash prize of Rs 13,500, while the second and third runners-up were given away the cash prizes of Rs 7,700 and Rs 5,500 respectively.
The results: Arjun Tiwari (Aurangabad-Maharashtra) 7.5, Vikas Sharma (Punjab) 7, Umakant Sharma (Tamil Nadu) 6.5, Kartikeyan P (Tamil Nadu) 6.5, Arvinder Prit Singh (Punjab) 6.5, Prathmesh Mokal (Pune) 6.5, K Ratnakaran (Keral) 6, S Vikramjit (Andra Pradesh) 6, Shailendra Kumar Vajpayai (Uttar Pradesh) 6 and Vedprakash Sinha (Bihar) 6.
