TDF to hold medical camp in epidemic-hit villages

Itanagar, Oct 7 (UNI) Concerned over the recent epidemic deaths of over 60 people in Arunachal's Tirap district, the Tribal Development Foundation (TDF) has decided to organise a free medical awareness campaign from October 16 to 19.

Measles and dysentery with high fever were reported from the district during the last one month, a TDF release said.

The epidemic diseases had affected a major population of the district which had prompted the Foundation to take up this humanitarian mission, it added.

The TDF in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services would conduct the programme after Cheif Minister Geong Apang accepted the request of a local MLA to send a rescue team to the affected village.

The programme would cover all the villages in Tirap and treat the ailing people by providing them free medicines and making them aware regarding malaria, typhoid, TB, influenza, besides, HIV/AIDS.

Founded by Mr Apang, TDF is a registered charitable trust which had taken up various philanthropic activities for the socio-economic development of the state's tribal population.
