RJD to join hands with secular forces for Nalanda, Bhagalpur bypolls

New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) would put up joint candidates with like-minded secular parties for Nalanda and Bhagalpur Lok Sabha bypolls to be held in Bihar.

Addressing a press conference here, RJD Secretary General and MP Ramdeo Bhandari said that the party would win the two seats by defeating the communal and reactionary forces ruling the state at present. He said left parties and other like minded parties would be consulted before finalising candidates for the two seats.

Asserting that apart from Bihar, RJD has also grown in strength in Jharkhand, West Bengal, Manipur and Andaman and Nicobar, he said that the Party National Executive Committee meeting to be held tomorrow would deliberate on how to strengthen the party. RJD President Lalu Prasad and other senior leaders of the party would participate in the meeting.

The Executive would finalise the political and economic resolution depicting parties view on the burning political and economic issues. He said that the matter of Special Economic Zone will figure in the Economic Resolution while the issue of clemency of Parliament attack accused Afzal Guru may figure in the political resolution.

Mr Bhandari said that railways have made grand progress under RJD Lalu Prasad and his success is being debated even at Indian Institute of Management. He said that Mr Prasad would take the party to greater heights.
