NDA candidates announced for bypolls

Patna, Oct 7(UNI) NDA has nominated former union minnister Shahnawaz Hussain and MLA from Islampur Ramswaroop Prasad as the alliance's candidates from Bhagalpur and Nalanda Loksabha constituencies respectively in the byelections scheduled for November six.

Mr Hussain is the BJP nominee while Mr Prasad represents JD(U).

The seats fell vacant following resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi who represented Nalanda and Bhagalpur respectively.

Principal general secretary of JD(U) Upendra Kushwaha said his party's president Sharad Yadav had since approved the candidature of Mr Prasad, after consulting Mr Nitish Kumar.

UPA constituents are yet to spell out their strategy while CPI(M) announced to field Subodh Rai as the party candidate who lost the seat in the last parliamentary polls.
