Modi visits ancient Dholavira site
Ahmedabad, Oct 7 (UNI) On the second day of three-day Kutch Sharadotsav celebrations, Chief Minister Narendra Modi visited the famous Dholavira site in Kutch today accompanied by some of his Cabinet minsters and foreign tourists.
Mr Modi terming the ancient Indian culture as 'supreme', said that each stone that is part of the Harappan culture speaks volumes of the greatness of our ancestors.
He said that the state government has decided to place Dholavira site on the heritage map of world tourism.
Those who accompanied the chief minister were Education minister Anandiben Patel, Social Justice minister Ramanlal Vora and minister of state for tourism CD Patel.
Explaining the archaeological significance of Dholavira to the foreign students and the foreign tourists, Mr Modi said that India's ancient heritage stretches back to 5,000 years. The Harappan civilisation speaks volumes about the ancient Indian history where people had a highly developed and well-planned civic life and social structure even 5,000 years ago.
Mr Modi said he wanted to want to place the heritage of Dholavir on the world map so that generations to come would like to preserve our culture and heritage.
The administrative officer of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) P D Vaghela was also present.
