Mah CITU three day conference at Ichalkaranji from Oct 11

Mumbai, Oct 7 (UNI) Maharashtra State committee of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) will hold its 11th conference at Ichalkaranji in Kolhapur district from October 11.

P R Krishnan, secretary of Mah CITU said in a statement that nearly 300 delegates representing more than one lakh members employed in different industries and sectors will participate in this conference.

''This is a prelude to the 12th All India Conference of the 45 lakh strong CITU at Bangalore in January next year. A hundred member strong reception committee under the chairmanship of Suryaji Salunke, a veteran working class leader of Ichalkaranjee has made elaborate preparations for the conduct of the state conference,'' he informed.

The conference in the powerloom town of Ichalkaranji will be inaugurated by CITU's national president Dr M K Pandhe. The CITU state president Prabhakar Sanzgiri will preside over the conference.

He said main agenda is to deliberate on major issues in industrial, economic and political fields in the state and tasks before the working class.

Presentation of a report by CITU general secretary K L Bajaj will take place on the activities conducted by the state unit after the 2001 Nagpur conference. A special feature of this report will be the strategy to be adopted towards SEZs and joint struggle for getting 50,000 closed factories in Maharashtra opened.
