Heavy rains forecast in Anadaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala

Pune, Oct 7 (UNI) Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur at most places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands while heavy rains are likely at most places in coastal Karnataka and Kerala.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep, and at isolated places in Arunchal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, Chattisgarh, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and interior Karnataka.

The Southwest Monsoon has been vigorous in Kerala. It has been subdued over Assam, Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Gujarat, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

In the regions where the Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn, day temperatures were appreciably to markedly above normal in south Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, north Rajasthan and north west Madhya Pradesh, and were above normal in north Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and south Rajasthan.

Night temperatures were below normal in some parts of east Uttar Pradesh. They were appreciably to markedly above normal in Rajasthan and in some parts of Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, north Madhya Pradesh and north Gujarat, and were above normal in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and remaining parts of Haryana.

Heavy to very heavy rains have occurred at most places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala and at a few places in Madhya Maharashtra.

Rain or thundershowers have occured at most places in coastal Karnataka, at many places in Lakshadweep, and at a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Bihar, Konkan, Goa, Marathwada, Rayalseema, interior Karnataka and at isolated places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, Jharkhand, Gujarat and Telangana.
