HC takes serious note of dengue, chikungunya in UP

Allahabad, Oct 7 (UNI) Taking a serious note on the fatal dangue and Chikungunya menace in the state, the Allahabad High Court has directed all district magistrates to personally oversee and supervise implementation of instructions issued by the state government to check the two diseases.

The court also directed the DMs to submit report to the Princiapl Secretary, Medical and Health within 10 days.

This official has been asked to submit report before the court on October 24, the next date of hearing.

A division bench compring Justice VM Sahai and Justice Barkat Ali Zaidi has further directed the DMs to take immediate action against errant personnel.

To control the diseases, lack of funds must not come in way, the court said, adding that the executive officers of all nagar palikas and chairmen and executive officers of all nagar nigams and nagar panchayats will be reposible for their areas.

The court said private nursing homes should immediately inform the DMs and CMOs of in case a patient is detected with chikungunya or dengue.

The order was passed by the court after the statement of Princial Secretary Health that though instructions have been issued by the state government, they were not being followed.
