Ranchi, Oct 07 (UNI) CPI (M) polit bureau member and in-charge of Jharkhand Brinda Karat today said the present political crisis in Jharkhand could be solved only by a stable government, which is possible if fresh elections are held in the state.

Ms Karat, however, said her party was not in favour of imposing elections in the state but the party felt that as long as tug-war-war continued for formation of government, developmental issues were relegated to non issues.

Addressing a press conference here, she welcomed the fall of the Arjun Munda-led NDA government adding ot was the desire of the people. She said in the last elections, there was no clear mandate for them but the NDA managd to hammer out a combination just to be in power by any means.

She said now the UPA was in the state but her party would keep a close watch on its performance.

Asked about November 6 by-election to Koderma parliamentary seat, Ms Karat said the CPM's main aim would to defeat the BJP.

She refused to make further comment on it for the UPA was yet to decide on the common candidate.

She asserted that in the next Assembly elections in the state her party would be open account.

Ms Karat charged the erstwhile Arju Munda government with mishandling the naxalites saying many of the ultras sneake into neighbouring West Bengal.

Talking about party's national stand, she said the party demanded the UPA that in the next Parliamentary session, bill of reservation for women be introduced.

She accused the Congress of toeing the BJP policy saying unless control on petrol and diesel, procurement of grains and PDS was taken, the common people would continue to suffer.
