Father-daughter killed during raid to nab Dimasa ultras

Diphu, Oct 7 (UNI) Two people, including a 13-year-old girl, were killed and several injured in a grenade blast during a raid to nab Dimasa militants in Pirkinzing area under Hamren sub-division today.

Police said the raid was conducted at 0510 hours at a house in the area following a tip-off that DHD (Jewel) militants were hiding in it.

As police commandos moved towards the house, the militants inside it tried to hurl a grenade towards them. However, it went off in the hand of the attacker, killing the owner of the house and his daughter.

Some others sustained injuries and were admitted to the Diphu Civil Hospital.

However, the militants managed to escape, the police added.

One AK-47 rifle, eight electronic detonators and a 12-volt battery charger were recovered from the house.
