Bengal Govt worried at dengue incidence

Kolkata, Oct 7 (UNI) The West Bengal Government today expressed concern over the high incidence of dengue which had so far affected more than 400 people across the state.

''We are worried at the reports of dengue affecting more than 400 people till September and the incidence of malaria,'' Health Minister Surjyakanta Mishra told reporters.

He said three to four cases of dengue were being reported every day from various parts of the state. Meanwhile, reports of a mystery fever resembling Chikungunya were received from four villages in Baduria area of North 24 Parganas district. However, the exact nature of the disease would be known after serological tests, he said.

The minister, however, said in reply to a question that the number of dengue cases in Kolkata was much less between July and September this year as compared to last year.
