Veteran Congress leader O Madhavi Amma dead

Kochi, Oct 6 (UNI) Veteran Congress leader and former Kochi Deputy Mayor O Madhavi Amma passed away at her residence early today.

Congress sources said she was 90 years old and unmarried. The funeral would take place at her house at Vaduthala this afternoon.

A homeopath by profession, Dr Madhavi Amma was active in politics since 1936. She worked in Cochin Rajya Praja Mandal and was associated with the Indian National Congress.

Dr Madhavi also served as the President of the Kerala Pradesh Mahila Congress and was elected an AICC member in 1956.

She served as the Deputy Mayor of Kochi Corporation in 1971 and was also involved in several social and women's welfare activities.
