UP may exempt Lage Raho Munnabhai from entertainment tax

Lucknow, Oct 6 (UNI) Munnabhai's Gandhigiri has touched the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh and now the feature film 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' is expected to be exempted from entertainement tax in the state before Eid and Diwali.

Uttar Pradesh is likely to be the third state after Delhi and Maharastra to exempt the film from extertainment tax for one month.

Official sources said the orders for giving tax exemption to the Sanjay Dutt and Vidya Balan starrer blockbuster have come from the top.

The government's decision for exempting a feature film from tax are based on the report of the committee headed by the Commissioner of Entertainment Tax department. The other members of the committee include the officials from the Information Department and Tax and Registration department.

The committee members before filing their report would watch the film in a local cinema hall on coming Friday.

The government's order for exempting the film from entertainment tax would be issued after the report of the committee is adopted by the cabinet well before Deepawali and Eid.
